Watching Birds

Most of my entertainment this past month was provided by our backyard birds. I can watch them for hours. The hummingbirds are attracted to the sweetness of the sugar water we pour (constantly, it seems) into their feeders. The finches, phoebes, pigeons, starlings, and a few other small bird types that slip my mind at the moment, come for the seeds that we put in their feeders and which soon thereafter end up scattered on the ground below. The scrub jays come for the peanuts (as do the squirrels) that get distributed among various open plate feeders around our backyard. Their noisy squawking serves as a reminder when I forget to set peanuts out for them. And then there are the bird baths, where bathing, splashing, and water fights were never so enjoyable. I’m digging it all.
